Antigua and Barbuda has launched a ‘Nomad Digital Residence’ (NDR) programme effective immediately. Under the programme, Antigua and Barbuda offers eligible persons the world over the opportunity to live in Antigua and Barbuda for up to two years.

The programme is designed for persons whose work can be done remotely and are desirous of doing so from a safe Caribbean country with access to modern amenities, including a sound telecommunications infrastructure. Eligible persons will be granted a special-resident authorisation that will be valid for up to two years in the first instance.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, in announcing the NDR programme, said that applications can be made from anywhere in the world to a dedicated government website. …

The ambassador presented his letters of credence to his respective sovereigns in accordance with the solemn ceremony under the traditional protocol, which formalised the accreditation.

The meeting between His Majesty the King and the ambassadors took place in the Royal Palace. During the presentation of the Letters of Credence, the new seven heads of mission were accredited as representatives of the respective nations in the Kingdom of Spain.

The ceremony

The seven new ambassadors arrived at the Royal Palace in Madrid in a carriage and were accompanied by the civil staff of the National Heritage, who wore period costumes for the occasion. Fábrega Roux, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama, Dario Item, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda, Ashot Smbatyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia and Willy Debuck, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium.

In a formal but not excessively solemn ceremony, Dario Item was welcomed into the rooms of the Royal Palace and announced, as usual, by the staff of the diplomatic ceremonial of the principality.
